Il balcone di Garibaldi (Garibaldi's Balcony)

At number 18 in Piazza Bra is located Fracasso-Gianfilippi Palace (also known as Righettini Palace or Fraccaroli Palace): the palace dates back to 16th century, as confirmed by a fresco attributed to Caroto that decorates its façade. This palace, however, is known for 'Garibaldi’s balcony'. Garibaldi arrived in Verona on an official visit on 7 March 1867.

The next day, from the balcony of Gianfilippi Palace in Piazza Bra, he pronounced the famous phrase 'Rome, or death' in front of the crowd. This event has been made immortal through the plaque affixed to the façade of the palace.
